Rhein Chemie wins 2009 Ringier Technology Innovation Award
• LANXESS subsidiary Rhein Chemie is recognized for outstanding features of one of its additives
• Product is environmentally friendly and has excellent technical performance
Shanghai/Qingdao – Rhein Chemie Lubricant Oil Additives (Qingdao) Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the German specialty chemicals company LANXESS received a 2009 Ringier Technology Innovation Award, being recognized for the outstanding features and advantages of its additive package Additin® RC 5700.
“Individual additive formulations are developed in close cooperation with customers, who thus benefit from Rhein Chemie’s know-how,” states Dr. Lixing Wei, Director of Technology Greater China at Rhein Chemie's Lubricants Division. Dr. Wei underlines the major contribution the laboratory makes to the success of operations. The Rhein Chemie scientist received the award during the ceremony and added: “We are honored that today RC 5700 is recognized by our customers. It’s always Rhein Chemie’s strategy to offer clients in Asia Pacific a customized range of high quality additives.”
With the establishment of Rhein Chemie Lubricant Oil Additives (Qingdao) Ltd. and its highly efficient applications laboratory, the technical experts of the LANXESS subsidiary successfully developed a water-miscible metalworking fluids package called Additin® RC 5700 by utilizing their own facility and technology. This Chlorine free package is defined as an environmental friendly product, as opposed to other available packages. In addition, the technical performance targets were set to the upper limit from the beginning of its development. The Additin® RC 5700 is tested by independent certified laboratories and has shown extremely positive results in the most severe conditions and environments.
Since 2005, Ringier, Switzerland’s largest media company, which owns publishing houses in both Eastern Europe and Asia, has been presenting its Technology Awards to individuals and organizations that have made a major contribution to the Chinese plastics, metallurgical, packaging and foods industries through technological innovation.
The newly founded Chinese company Rhein Chemie LOA (Qingdao) Ltd. began production of additives for industrial lubricants at the end of 2008. Rhein Chemie manufacturing operations in Qingdao started back in 1999 with the production of additives for the rubber industry and have continued to expand ever since. Rhein Chemie now employs a workforce of around 180 in Qingdao.
